This is a picture of Kashka, a macaque in Dracori's story, "Through the Eyes of an Outcast". This is, to date, my second fanart drawing of that story. Whether or not it is the last (a doubtful prospect, especially when Dracori adds another chapter to the story), we will see.
It was a real pain in the neck trying to color the body of Kashka based on pictures of Macaques I found on the internet. As you can see, my contour-coloring attempt was a miserable failure (especially the unnecessarily black muzzle). But hey, at least I tried, and I'm proud of it.
It was also a real chore to make Kashka look like a victim of human experiments. Mixing in different shades of brown to show matting and uneven distribution of hair, drawing hair missing from his body, and making his skin look like it had gone through Hell. I, for one, think the first two that I listed came out pretty well, but the skin... not so much.
Oh, well. Well, if there's anything wrong with this pic, please tell me so I can improve upon my work.
So, how could I have done better, just out of curiosity? Also, please tell me if I spelled the last word of the first sentence in this comment correctly.
And I really don't know how to tell you to make it better. I'm terrible at art critiques The only thing I know is that in my mind, Kashka's fur is more of a gray color, rather than brown.

Well, since it IS an OC, you really aren't in the wrong. I didn't give heavy details of Kashka. I kind of just left it up for the reader to decide what he looked like lol.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
